Compliance Tool · Exclusion Screening

Exclusion & Sanctions Screening Tracker

Screen employees, clinicians, contractors, vendors, and owners against the OIG List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) and California's Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List. Upload a roster or check one name at a time. Names and identifiers stay in memory in your browser and are not transmitted or saved. Only your participation setting, screening dates, and cadence are saved in this browser. The default reminder is monthly for Medicare or Medi-Cal participants and quarterly otherwise; confirm the frequency and lists required by your programs and contracts.

Upload your workforce and vendor roster as a CSV file (Excel can save any sheet as CSV). Include everyone the OIG's Seven Elements guidance expects you to screen: employees, physicians and other clinicians, contractors and temporary staff, billing and management vendors, and owners and officers. The more identifiers you provide (date of birth, NPI), the better the tool can separate real matches from same-name false positives.

Does this practice participate in Medicare or Medi-Cal? Cadence: choose above

Monthly LEIE screening is OIG risk-reduction guidance, not a universal provider statutory cadence. This tool defaults to monthly reminders and both lists for Medicare/Medi-Cal participants, and quarterly LEIE-only reminders otherwise. A quarterly reminder is not a finding of compliance: check other federal programs, state enrollment rules and contracts, and screen before hiring or contracting. Check Medi-Cal separately when applicable even if you select No. An exclusion applies from its official effective date, not necessarily its posting or discovery date. See the OIG screening guidance and effective-date FAQ.

LastName (required) · FirstName · MiddleName · DOB (YYYY-MM-DD or MM/DD/YYYY) · NPI · Role (employee, clinician, contractor, vendor, owner)

For a business or vendor entity, put the business name in LastName and leave FirstName blank. Header names are matched loosely, so "Last Name" or "Surname" also work.

Processed locally in this browser tab. Never uploaded, never stored.

Privacy: this tool has no server. Your roster is parsed and matched inside this browser tab and is discarded when you close the page. Nothing you upload or type is transmitted, logged, or saved. Only your screening dates and cadence setting are kept in this browser's local storage so the tool can remind you when the next cycle is due.

Check a single person or business, useful for pre-hire screening before someone starts. Provide a date of birth or NPI if you have one: the LEIE publishes those identifiers for many exclusions, and they are what separates a real match from someone who just shares the name.

The Medicare/Medi-Cal participation setting on the Upload roster tab also controls which lists a quick check runs against.

No screening has been run yet. Upload a roster or use Quick check to get started.

This tool is a screening aid, not a substitute for direct verification against the primary sources at exclusions.oig.hhs.gov and the DHCS Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List. Matches are based on name, date of birth, and NPI only: none of the downloadable exclusion files include Social Security numbers, so a potential match can only be confirmed or ruled out through the OIG's online SSN verification step (or equivalent identity verification) before any employment action is taken. Exclusion data here is refreshed periodically, and an exclusion applies from its official effective date, which is not necessarily its posting or discovery date, so always confirm against the live sources. The Medi-Cal list is queried live from the state's open data portal when possible and otherwise falls back to the bundled snapshot. This is not legal advice. Brandon Goulter is not an attorney, and using this tool creates no professional advisory relationship. Consult a licensed attorney before acting on any potential match, including obligations to assess claims exposure, repayment, and self-disclosure. Rosters you upload are processed only in your browser and are never transmitted or stored; only screening dates and your cadence setting are kept in this browser's local storage.
